No Shame

How short sighted and easily led some people can be was confirmed by the Australia Day protests and marches. While a recent poll found 76% of Australians are proud of their history, 87% proud of being Australian and 70% agreed about keeping the present Australia Day,  the left leaning groups obsessed with identity politics are so ashamed of Western civilisation that they are determined to foist its shame upon the rest of us.

No one denies that the Aboriginal people were treated badly by some  early settlers, but how many times do we need to apologise and compensate? Can’t they see that today things are quite different?

Most of the leaders of these protests are in one way or another funded by the very government they are so anxious to destroy. You may have seen an ‘aboriginal’ activist called Ms Onus Williams ranting at a “Warriors of  The Aboriginal Resistance”  (WAR) march on tv stating “We have not organised this to abolish Australia Day because  f…….k   Australia, f…….k Australia, I hope it f….king burns to the ground.”

Warren Mundine, a sensible aboriginal elder,  later said she was a hypocrite and a “hater” for she is an executive member of Victoria’s  Koorie Youth Council, which has received almost 2 million dollars from the State government since 2012. That council is meant to advance the understanding and appreciation of all things indigenous, and Mundine pointed out that the government should be much more careful about who it was funding.

Let’s admit that these days there are very many sensible hard working aboriginals who make their contribution to our society, but it seems that there are still too many influenced by haters like Ms Onus Williams, who swallow the drivel they spew out as though aboriginals are still being hunted down today, and these protesters are not only aboriginals. There are enough non aboriginal bleeding hearts who have fallen for this left wing propaganda too.

It seems that these people refuse to recognise that Australia is now the envy of the world for its peace, prosperity, equality of all and its freedoms, precisely because it was founded on the accumulation of Western civilisation brought with them by the British in 1788 – the latent values of liberty, toleration, religious plurality, economic freedom, the dignity of man, and the rule of the law based upon Christianity.

These were the gifts of British colonisation, which are still enjoyed today by many ex-colonies all around the world. We should not be ashamed of these blessings – we should rejoice in them, despite our imperfections, which is what Australia Day is about, and despite the left wing fifth column which seeks to undermine our society. Look around, the nations they would favour enjoy none of these blessings, for they are atheists. Psalm 14:1, ‘The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.’
